This policy explains how Plantedwell handles information when you visit our website, use our gardening tools or contact us. For any questions about your privacy, email info@plantedwell.com.
Information we collect
You can read our guides and use our tools without creating an account or providing your name or email address.
When you visit, our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical information needed to deliver the website and keep it secure. This can include your IP address, the pages requested and the time of your visit. Operational logs are managed by the hosting provider. See Vercel’s privacy notice for more information.
If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include in your message, such as your name, photographs or details of an enquiry. We use this information to respond, investigate corrections and manage our correspondence. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information.
Cookies and saved preferences
Plantedwell does not currently use advertising cookies, affiliate tracking or an analytics service. Some features use your browser’s local storage to remember information you choose to save:
- My garden: the guides you bookmark.
- Greenhouse observation log: the temperature readings you add.
- Border Studio: your current planting plan and its settings.
- Seed Lab: your seed tray settings and recorded germination observations.
These records stay in the browser where you create them. They are not sent to a Plantedwell account or automatically shared between devices. They remain until you remove or replace them, clear this website’s data in your browser, or your browser removes them. Where a tool offers an export, you can download a copy before clearing your data.
You can manage cookies and website storage in your browser settings. Blocking storage may prevent saved guides and tool drafts from being remembered.
Search, calculators and imported files
Our search and garden calculators run in your browser. Calculator measurements and sensor files you import into Microclimate Lab or Season Tracker are processed on your device and are not uploaded to Plantedwell. Imported readings stay available for the current page session unless you download a copy. The saved features listed above use local browser storage.
Search terms can appear in the search page’s address. Avoid including personal or sensitive information in a search, particularly if you intend to share the link.
Border Studio’s “Share plan” option creates a link containing the plan’s growing conditions, plants and positions. Anyone you send that link to can view the arrangement. Downloads from our tools are created in your browser and saved to your device.
Optional weather data
Microclimate Lab and Season Tracker can retrieve weather data from NASA POWER. If you choose this option, your browser sends the coordinates and dates you enter directly to NASA, along with the technical connection information needed to make the request, such as your IP address. We do not request your device’s GPS location.
Weather results are held temporarily for the current page session. NASA handles requests under its own privacy policy. You can use the tools’ file-import options without requesting NASA data.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Our hosting and email providers process information needed to operate the website and handle correspondence. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law.
Our guides link to horticultural references and other websites. When you follow an external link, that website’s own privacy policy applies.
Keeping and protecting information
We keep correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any related follow-up or applicable legal obligations. Information saved only in your browser is under your control; we cannot retrieve or delete it remotely. Our website uses HTTPS to protect information in transit.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can remove locally saved information through the relevant feature or by clearing Plantedwell’s website data in your browser. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, or to object to or restrict its use.
To make a request, contact info@plantedwell.com and provide enough detail for us to identify the information concerned. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also contact your local data protection authority about a privacy concern.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our website or services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
